Russell & Co is a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Ponteland.The company was formed by Brian Russell FCA, in 2000 to provide an outsourced financial directorships to SME market in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.

The business grew slowly until early 2006, when we made the strategic decision to expand our range of services and attract clients that require year end accounts, taxation and general compliance work. We have expanded and now have around 100 clients that range from those with turnovers of up to £4million through to individuals where we provide a Tax Return completion service.

As part of our enhanced services, we offer an exit planning service to SME companies. The reasons for looking at ways to leave your company can include retirement, new opportunities, succession, life style  or a combination of various elements

Recently, we have formed Smallburn LLP to deal with the growing range of tax strategies that we have  available to us. These include offerings cover all of the major taxes including  Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

In 2008, we worked closely with all parties in the sale of Heighley Gate Garden Centre Limited to Wyevale and provided continuity within the business by providing management accounting back up in the period until the financial systems merged some six months after the transaction was completed.

In recent months our team has expanded to three full time members of staff with the recruitment of Alan McCord FCCA, to manage the day to day running of accounts preparation, bookkeeping, payroll and VAT returns,  Sophie Ditchburn as a trainee accountant and Kerry Watson who is the practice administrator.
